Maximize Your Humanities Career!
It is bad enough that upwards of half of those who begin a major dissertation never finish. Among those who do finish, a great many have merely survived. We help you maximize your humanities career during the crucial but often misspent dissertation experience. You should emerge, in a reasonable amount of time, not only with an approved thesis and a degree but also with portable, labor-saving and powerful critical thinking and communication skills and a yeoman’s capstone knowledge of humanities in general and of the field.
The Aforementioned Portable Skills Result In:
* A streamlined, faster dissertation process
* A better dissertation
* A better leadership capacity
* Enhances your value in the market
Capstone Knowledge Is Invaluable Because:
* It helps you frame and craft the dissertation
* It makes sense of all prior schooling
* It brings you in to “the Great Conversation” of civilization
* It enables you to contribute more significantly in the quest for the postmodern “ultimate end.”
The Great Conversation is a means. Rather than have to come up with everything ourselves–an impossible task–the wise individual relies upon others, great thinkers, to give him or her the fastest possible running start.
Everyone is caught up in, whether they know it or not, the pursuit of the postmodern ultimate end. Some say the postmodern era dates from the Social Revolution of 1968. In any event, there is a dissatisfaction with what modernity produced, which, in its turn, had been built upon a dissatisfaction with the medieval and ancient.
Our Senior Instructor who holds a MIT PhD in Political Science oversees SDI’s dissertation coaching. His graduate school training included International Relations. He has served in the public policy arena and is an author of public policy and history. More to the point, he ran a challenging dissertation gauntlet. In the midst of writing the dissertation, he searched for and found the best critical thinking and communication protocol that civilization has seen. Classical Rhetoric is without compare, yet, alas, all too often neglected or diluted nowadays.
On the content side of the humanities dissertation experience, our Senior Instructor, Dr Arminio, benefited from interacting with the faculty at six august institutions–MIT, Harvard, the Smithsonian and Georgetown University; King’s College, London, UK and Cambridge University, UK. He learnt invaluable things! At the same time, his graduate studies ranged over much of recorded history. And he encountered the postmodern point of view. In a word, his teachers manifested a great curiosity and encouraged the same in him.
Having done dissertation work in the New World and in the Old World, as the American Founding Fathers would say, and having moved among not one but four great centers of learning on one side of the Atlantic and two great centers of learning on the other side of the Atlantic, Dr Arminio was the fortunate beneficiary of not only multiple faculty perspectives but multiple cultural perspectives too. Yet always his native MIT was the hub of his activities. On the way toward earning the Doctorate, he learnt two great things: (1) the value of having a “second opinion” or “Team B” and (2) the need to heed “Team A.” In short, Dr Arminio and his staff can be your Team B and they are always mindful of the supreme role of your Team A.
